How to Choose a Video Production Company: 7-Point Checklist
The right video partner makes your brand look inevitable. The wrong one costs you money, time and momentum. Use this checklist before you commit.
1. Look at the work, not the pitch
Watch their portfolio on a real screen. Is the lighting intentional? Is the grade consistent? Does the style fit the feeling you want for your brand? You can see our recent films on our work page.
2. Check they have done your type of project
A fashion reel, a corporate explainer and a product commercial need different skills. Ask for examples close to what you need.
3. Understand their process
A professional studio can explain every step from discovery to delivery. Ours is four steps: discovery, shoot, edit and delivery. Read more in the commercial video production process.
4. Ask who will actually work on your project
Find out who directs, who shoots and who edits. Small, senior teams tend to give you more attention than large agencies that pass work down the chain.
5. Demand pricing clarity
Good studios scope a quote around your video, not a generic package. Look for a breakdown, clear revision rounds and no surprise fees. Our pricing guide explains what drives the numbers.
6. Confirm deliverables and ownership
Ask which formats you receive (widescreen, vertical, square), what is included in revisions, and who owns the final files.
7. Judge their communication
Fast, clear replies before you hire are a good sign of how the project will run. If answers are vague now, expect the same later.
Red flags
- No portfolio or only stock footage.
- Prices quoted without asking about your goals.
- No defined timeline.
- Unwillingness to explain who does what.
